Mauritius Equity Watch | 05 Aug 2015: Stock Exchange of Mauritius stays on bullish road … market cap gains MUR 335 million
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — On Wednesday, Mauritius equities stayed on bullish momentum. The market capitalization surged by MUR 335 million to close at MUR 220.435 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 220.100 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) surged by 0.15 percent or 3.01 points to close at 1,982.50 points and the SEM10 index closed at 381.24 points after gaining 0.70 points or 0.18 percent.
Today’s overall total volume trade recorded at 13.502 million (a reduction of 13 percent compared to 15.572 million recorded on previous trading session). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 100.371 million (a slight increase relative to MUR 59.909 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SBM Holdings recorded 11.011 million (almost 96 percent of total volume) at MUR 9.799 million and Air Mauritius registered 116,605 traded stocks amounted to MUR 1.282 million. Mauritius Development Investment Trust traded 99,110 stocks at MUR 509,427 and MCB Group had a total volume of 53,987 shares at MUR 12.134 million. BLUELIFE Limited also recorded 51,011 shares at MUR 209,206.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 33 traded securities there were 5 price advancers and 4 price decliners as well as 24 are price stayers. The price gainers were Air Mauritius added 4.27 percent to end at MUR 11.00 and SBM Holdings closed at MUR 0.90 after adding 1.12 percent. Also, ENL Land Limited surged by 1.00 percent to end at MUR 50.50 and Mauritius Union Assurance accelerated by 0.71 percent to settle at MUR 70.50. ROGERS Mauritius closed at MUR 30.55 after gaining 0.66 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was LOTTOTECH Limited with a price reduction of 0.80 percent to trade at MUR 4.96. Likewise, Lux Island Resorts tumbled by 0.80 percent to settle at MUR 62.00 and MCB Group fell by 0.22 percent to end at MUR 224.50.
The DEMEX index also rose by 0.11 points or 0.06 percent to close at 206.00 points. The market capitalization added MUR 27 million to close at MUR 48.958 (relative to MUR 48.931 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 476,225 exchanged in 14,338 traded securities. SODIA closed at MUR 0.34 after losing 5.56 percent but Tropical Paradise (Ordinary) added 3.33 percent to trade at MUR 6.20.
